A Tradesman Plumber Limited license covers a narrower scope of plumbing work than a full Journeyman or Master license — typically work on one- and two-family dwellings — and always operates under a Responsible Master Plumber's supervision. It's a common entry path for plumbers who want to work legally sooner without the full journeyman scope, or who intend to specialize in residential work long-term. Homeowners hiring for smaller residential jobs can use this license number to confirm the plumber is authorized for that scope of work specifically. Because it's a limited license, it's sometimes mistaken for a lesser priority to renew — TSBPE doesn't treat it that way.

This license renews annually and requires 6 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) per cycle, the same CPE rule that applies to every TSBPE license type. A late renewal costs $17.50 within 90 days of expiration and $35 beyond that.
