Checked against TSBPE records

Responsible Master Plumber isn't a separate license so much as a designation — a Master Plumber a plumbing company has formally named as the person legally responsible for its licensed work, and TSBPE only lets one person hold that designation for one company at a time. It's the credential a plumbing business actually needs to operate, since the company's authority to do plumbing work runs through whichever Master Plumber is designated its RMP. Because an RMP also carries a $300,000 liability insurance obligation tied to the designation, TSBPE prices its renewal and late fees well above a standalone Master Plumber license. Losing this designation — through a lapse or otherwise — can stop a company's work cold, not just one plumber's.

An RMP designation rides on the same annual renewal cycle as the underlying Master Plumber license, and the same 6 hours of CPE per cycle covers it — TSBPE's continuing education rule applies to the four core license types, not the RMP designation separately. Where it diverges sharply is fees: the standard/initial RMP fee runs $225 and renewal $300, with late fees of $150 if renewed within 90 days of expiration and $300 beyond that — multiples of what a plain Master Plumber pays late. Because the designation is tied to the underlying Master license, the same two-year cutoff applies: let it lapse past two years and reinstatement means re-registering as an Apprentice and passing every exam again, same as any other TSBPE license type.
